Who is Uncle ESG
Founded by Kael Ong.

Uncle ESG helps small and medium businesses answer one question that's becoming harder to avoid: "What are your Scope 1 and 2 emissions?"
Main contractors, larger customers and banks are increasingly asking their suppliers for emissions data. For a big company, that's a job for a sustainability team. For a small business, it usually lands on the owner, on top of everything else. Uncle ESG exists to take that job off your hands, simply and at a fixed price.
Who's behind it
Uncle ESG was founded by Kael Ong. I've spent close to a decade in sustainability engineering and ISO compliance work within Singapore's construction industry, helping organisations implement and get certified against environmental and resource management standards.
Why I started Uncle ESG
In the course of my work, I kept seeing the same gap: by my own estimate, at least 85% of the SMEs I've come across in Singapore have no system in place to track their emissions, simply because no one ever showed them how, or gave them a reason to start. It's the same blind spot many businesses once had with financial budgeting — until it became standard practice. I believe emissions tracking is heading the same way, and SMEs shouldn't have to wait until it's compulsory, or navigate it alone with only expensive consultants or complicated enterprise software built for large companies as their options.
I wanted something a busy business owner could finish in minutes: fill in a short form, upload the fuel and electricity bills you already have, and get back a report you can hand straight to whoever is asking.
How your report is made
Every report is calculated and checked by a person, not generated automatically by software. I read your bills, apply official emission factors, and put together a report aligned with the GHG Protocol, the most widely used standard for emissions accounting.
- Electricity (Scope 2): calculated using Singapore's official grid emission factor from the Energy Market Authority.
- Fuel (Scope 1): calculated using the National Environment Agency's official fuel factors, consistent with the approach used in BCA's Green Mark scheme.
- You can see every factor and its source on our How we calculate page.
What we do, and what we don't claim
- We produce Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions data from your fuel and electricity bills.
- We don't cover Scope 3, which covers emissions in your wider supply chain. It's usually your larger customer's responsibility to calculate that, using data like yours.
- A report from us is data you can supply to a client or keep for your own records. It is not a certification or a regulatory compliance filing.
- We don't sell or share your data. See our Privacy Policy.
